REMI
"XTC Party"
aken From 'Raw X Infinity' Album Out 25/08
** Triple J Unearthed Artist of the Year **
23-year-old Melbourne newcomer REMI releases his new single 'XTC Party' on 18th August, ahead of the UK/EU release of his critically acclaimed album ‘Raw X Infinity’ on 25th August. Known as the fastest-rising Hip Hop act in Australia, he will be making his UK live debut at London’s Birthdays on29th October.
New to the game but old to its ways, Remi Kolawole exudes a unique style, rhythmic flow and an honest delivery. His semi tongue-in-cheek braggadocious style by no means overshadows his lyrical abilities. His rapping persona is comfortable sitting amongst varying musical backdrops and tempos, and his singing voice is as smooth and catchy as the hooks he sings. Expertly balancing singing and rapping, REMI’s content is highly self-referential, littered with pop-cultural tid-bits and tales of a life equally footed in fantasy as it is reality.
Emerging in 2013, he racked-up a bunch of impressive Australian music awards including the Triple J Unearthed Artist of the Year Award, performed to packed audiences right around the country and landed international supports with the likes of Joey Bada$$, Danny Brown and De La Soul.
2014 is shaping up to be even bigger with ‘Raw X Infinity’ receiving immense critical acclaim in his native Australia, three singles getting airplay right across the country and performing countless shows to packed audiences. Now he’s set to bring his success to the UK with the mid-summer release. Current single ‘Tyson’ announces the album in characteristically bold fashion and serves as powerful introduction to Australia’s most exciting new musical export.
Alongside the album REMI has announced his UK live debut, headlining Birthdays on 29th October and will reveal full UK/European tour dates soon.
REMI is being championed as a refreshing, young, evolving, gifted, forward thinking talent to watch, and rightfully so. Watch this space. |
