E. Grizzly "Felipe Pupo" @EGrizzly305

A-Ha! Records artist E. Grizzly teams up with musician Scott Labenski to release his new concept album "Felipe Pupo."  The production is a combination of multiple genres including hip hop, punk, afrobeat, hardcore, dance hall, calypso, reggaeton, metal and synth pop.  The result is a Caribbean afrobeat, hip hop, rock sound that Grizzly dubs as Synth Calypso Punk.  Scott Labenski and E. Grizzly produced the entire album including all instrumentation, vocals and lyrics. To view the mix, click the link below.

"The inspiration for this album came from a bass player and a good friend named Jason Pupo," says Grizzly.  "We wanted to start a band that was as much fun as possible.  We decided to do a Synth Calypso Punk set so people can dance and rage.  Everything revolved around having a good time.  He then passed away before we could even start recording.  That took the idea in a whole new direction and it became a homage to Pupo.  That's when I started to write about ghosts.  And not just cliche ghosts but a whole psychoanalysis about things that typically haunt the average person.  Now it's just trying to have the time of our lives with the things that scare us the most."  Felipe Pupo is available for free download and was mixed and recorded by Scott Labenski and E. Grizzly at Home Bassment Studios in Lancaster, PA.  E. Grizzly will be doing shows in Seattle, Miami and Philadelphia to celebrate the release.

E. Grizzly is a progressive hip hop artist from Philadelphia, PA specializing in a philosophical, poetic flow similar to Mos Def, Lupe Fiasco, Immortal Technique, and Zach De La Rocha.  The point of E. Grizzly's brand of music is to share new perspectives and challenge social standards accepted by the majority of society.
Grizzly has released 6 mix tapes and albums since 2010.  His first release was a  hip hop/rock album with the alternative band Alukard from Miami, FL.  Some of Grizzly's other music ventures include an Alternative Hip hop experiment with the punk band 1994! in Philadelphia and mix tapes dedicated to the production of El-P, RJD2, and Trent Reznor.  For more about E. Mic Capes - Concrete Dreams @MicCapes_Music

Portland's rising star Mic Capes drops his long awaited album Concrete Dreams after four years of preparation and buzz. The saying "you can't rush great art" definitely applies to Cape's sophomore release as you can hear the blood, sweat, and tears put into this project with even one listen. From the opening "Alia's Prologue" featuring Alia Zin to the closing North Portland anthem, "Jumper Cables" featuring Vinnie Dewayne, Mic uses an array of producers and musicians throughout the 19 track project but it's Capes himself who is the breakout star. Topics ranging from police brutality, to gang violence, to aspirations of making it out of the neighborhood, to straight up bars, Mic Capes really does it all on latest release. Stand out track "Black Pearls" taps Trox and Tony Ozier on production, with vocal stylings from Aaron O'Bryan Smith and is an ode to the strong black woman, drawing inspiration from Mic's own relationship. Take your time with this album as it defintely deserves your full attention.
