KEMP IS COMING! Information for media, Hip Hop Kemp Festival 2014

From the 21st  to the 23rd of August the unassuming Czech town of Hradec Kralove

will once again play host to the country's largest and longest-running festival of hip hop 

music and culture. 

Hip Hop Kemp is back for its 13th

will be there to join the fun. 

The festival, which takes place on an airfield just north of the city and boasts its own on-

site swimming lake, is renowned among the international hip hop community (both those 

on stage and those watching it) for its incredible atmosphere and memorable live shows, 

which are unrivalled by other festivals on the scene.

Legends of the genre such as Method Man and Redman, MOP and Yassiin Bey (aka Mos 

Def) as well as rising star Kendrick Lamar have all graced the main stage in the past and 

this year's line up is no less impressive, with Ceelo Green and KRS One at the top of 

the bill as headliners. Also confirmed are hard-hitters Onyx, New York's Action Bronson 

and festival regulars Dilated Peoples as well as British grime star P-Money. 

The organisers say 'we are proud of the quality of our bookings and the reputation we 

have earned from artists and fans alike'. 'The Czech republic has a healthy, growing hip 

hop scene and Hip Hop Kemp is certainly a part of that success'. 

Kemp is a surprisingly affordable festival option compared to the majority of other large-

scale festivals in Europe. Ticket prices are a real bargain at just 59 EUR for a standard 

weekend ticket and 110 EUR for VIP entry which entitles the holder to a heap of extra 

benefits including access to the side of the mainstage, additional showers, swimming pool, 

extra toilets etc etc. Cheap flights to Prague (a 2hr train ride from Hradec Kralove) are 

available via a number of budget airlines, most recently Ryan Air who added the route 

back into their roster. There are also a number of cheap accommodation options available 

in the town centre with easy shuttle access to the festival site for those wishing to party in 

relative luxury.
