Nigeria born, London raised Aminu has always secretly known that music was the passion he wished to pursue. While his parents were keen for him to follow his studies, the boy that learnt to sing in the school choir had acquired the performance bug, which didn’t leave him throughout his BA or MA in Business Management. While he kept his head down and focused on his academic potential, he secretly hatched a plan for global domination as a break-out R’n’B artist.

Although he came close in 2003 to hitting the big time, when music mogual Simon Cowell courted him for a big bucks deal, the independently minded and driven Aminu instead focused his energies on finding his voice. Having toured up and down the UK, as well as scoring a gig at the iconic 7-star Burl Al Arab Hotel in Dubai, Aminu has build his reputation on the live circuit as a dynamic, engaging performer.

However, while over the years he has dabbled with various producers, which resulted in many recordings in a variant of styles, it wasn’t until he met US writer/producer Rob Ra in a studio in Dalston Kingsland that he fully found his direction as a recording artist. The now firm friends have worked together on Aminu’s long-awaited debut album, DYFM, which has already spawned the infectious Afrobeat anthem Shake U, which has experienced success both here and in Nigeria.

Having proved he knows how to make you move your body, Aminu’s new single Love U showcases a tender side to the performer. Channelling Maxwell and Joe, Love U is a slick, sensational slice of soulful R’n’B that will melt your heart.
