On the surface, Monster is an anthem of Huff. It touches on the difficulties that the group faced when trying to get coverage from local Philadelphia blogs, and demonstrates the lyrical prowess that the group’s rapper, NxG, possesses, even though he is young and new to rapping. On the darker side, however, NxG introduces Gladys, his smart-mouthed, sharp-tongued, alter ego. By making fun of him throughout Monster, Gladys asserts herself as NxG’s counterforce. She is constantly doubting NxG's ability to succeed by making snide remarks, harping on his insecurities, and mocking his every move. NxG’s upcoming project, which is named after Gladys, explores this relationship and NxG’s search for a resolution.
